Momos of Oats and wheat flour

Reason to have these Momo's

Once again I am here to share something very tasty and healthy too. We have heard about momos, ya you heard the same ! But how it can be healthy, instead of using maida flour , we will use wheat flour(atta) and oats flour.

Reason why this Momos is healthy:
  • Oats (whole oats are used for high blood pressure; high cholesterol; diabetes; and digestionproblems including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), diverticulosis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), diarrhea, and constipation. They are also used for preventing heart disease, gallstones, colon cancer, and stomach cancer.)
  • Garlic (Garlic has been intensively studied, and numerous large studies have shown that taking supplements that mimic fresh garlic can significantly lower LDL cholesterol levels without hurting beneficial HDL cholesterol levels. Garlic has also been shown to reduce pain and other symptoms in people with rheumatoid arthritis)
  • Ginger (Ginger is a natural immune booster, Ginger acts as a Digestive Aid and Ginger has also been found to relieve arthritis-related joint pain.
  • Less oil as cooked in steam
  • No red chilli
  • Green Chillies - They’re packed with Vitamin A, which is essential for the health and maintenance of bones, teeth, mucous membranes, eyes, and skin. This vitamin is also essential for healthy eyes—as it produces retina pigmentation and promotes night vision. Vitamin C isalso abundant in green chili. Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) acts as both an antioxidant and a vitamin.  Vitamin C helps the body to maintain and repair wounds, bones, teeth and cartilage. As an antioxidant, it strengthens overall health and helps the body fight infections. Green chilies are also rich in phytochemicals, which provide anti-inflammatory benefits.
  • Filling has only healthy Vegetables and Panner
  • Atta (Wheat Flour)
  • Black Pepper (Stimulating to the digestion, pepper is seen primarily as a remedy for indigestion, bloating, gas and malabsorption. Black pepper is considered good for mental clarity. It used frequently for improving concentration and also to prevent memory loss.)

Ingredients


For Dough
  • 1/2 cup oats flour
  • 1/2 cup atta ( wheat flour) 
  • 1 cup maida
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder (if you don’t want to use baking powder than keep the dough for at-least half an hour so that it gets softens)
  • water

Dough

For Filling
  • 1 cup carrots - grated
  • 1 cup cabbage - grated
  • 1 cup Paneer /Tofu
  • 1 cup Spring onion greens, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic - chopped
  • 1 tsp Soya sauce
  • Salt
  • 1/4 tsp vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1tsp ginger ,finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 2 chopped green chillies

Method
  • Mix maida, atta and oats flour , salt and baking powder and knead to a stiff dough with water. (if   you don’t want to use baking powder than keep the dough for at-least half an hour so that it  gets softens)
  • Heat oil and add the ginger , garlic , green chilli and Spring onion greens.
  • Saute over high heat and add the carrot, paneer /tofu and cabbage. Turn around over high heat till glossy.
  • Take it off the heat and mix in the Soya sauce, salt, vinegar and black pepper.
  • Roll the dough thin (translucent) and cut into 4"-5" rounds.
  • Take a round, wet edges and place some filling in the center.
  • Bring edges together to cover the filling. Twist to seal and fill the rest in the same way.
  • Steam for about 10 minutes and serve with soya sauce and chili sauce.
